Chile's VTR offers fastest fixed line speed in South America with 58 Mbps

Chilean cable operator VTR, part of Liberty Latin America, posted the fastest fixed internet download speeds in South America between January and December 2018, according to over 5.4 million tests conducted by nPerf in 10 countries. The operator achieved an average download speed of 58.08 Mbps, well ahead of Brazil's NET with 37.27 Mbps and Chile's Mundo Pacifico with 37.16 Mbps, said the report. Uruguayan state-owned operator Antel and Telefonica's Brazilian subsidiary Vivo rounded out the top five with average speeds of 35.05 Mbps and 33.70 Mbps respectively.
