Huawei aims to lead the development of 5G networks in Brazil, but sees challenges as the country is lagging behind other Latin American countries, technology director Nicolas Driesen told Reuters. The Chinese company has successfully tested 5G technology with Brazil's four main operators and is helping them modernize their infrastructure before an expected spectrum auction. Driesen added that there is still time for Brazil to catch up if the frequency auction scheduled for March 2020 is held on time. He also noted that the telecom industry can also benefit from a change in the Brazilian legislation that regulates the installation of towers and antennas.
