Self-Assembly of LiMo3Se3 Nanowire Networks from Nanoscale Building-Blocks in Solution

LiMo3Se3 is a highly anisotropic solid comprisednof a regular pattern of quasi-1-D wire-like structures.nSolutions of LiMo3Se3 deposited on substrates and TEM gridsnreveal the presence of two-dimensional network morphologies.nHigh resolution STEM imaging reveals that the junctionsnwithin these networks are not formed by discrete overlyingnLiMo3Se3nfibers or wires. Rather the junctions are continuousnin that the wires are seamlessly interwoven from one bundle tonthe next. We investigated network formation by dynamic lightnscattering and AFM and demonstrate that the networks arennot pre-existent in solution but rather form via self-assembly ofnnanoscale building blocks that is driven by solvent evaporation.
