The structure of 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidiniumnbis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([C4mpyr][NTf2]) roomtemperaturenionic liquid at an electrified gold interface wasnstudied using neutron reflectometry, cyclic voltammetry, andndifferential capacitance measurements. Subtle differences werenobserved between the reflectivity data collected on a goldnelectrode at three different applied potentials. Detailed analysisnof the fitted reflectivity data reveals an excess of [C4mpyr]+ atnthe interface, with the amount decreasing at increasinglynpositive potentials. A cation rich interface was found even at anpositively charged electrode, which indicates a nonelectrostaticn(specific) adsorption of [C4mpyr]+ onto the gold electrode.
