Shifting Ground: Landscape Architecture in the Age of the New Normal—Annual Meeting of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture

The 2006 annual meeting of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA), held jointly with the Canadian Society of Landscape Architecture (CSLA), was co-chaired by Liane McKenna, representing CSLA, and Cynthia Girling, representing CELA. Held in the beautiful international city of Vancouver, British Columbia, the event was designed to provide a "forum for landscape architects, educators and students to share ideas, experiences, knowledge, influences and solutions." The conference overlapped with the World Planners Conference and was immediately followed by the United Nations World Urban Forum (Habitat + 30). Conference planners intended that participants would stay on in Vancouver and "interact with members of similarly influential disciplines from around the world." A Super Saturday event was planned in order "to bring together city-building professionals through a series of interdisciplinary sessions, networking opportunities and social activities"—specifically, workshops, design charrettes, and tours at various locations throughout the Vancouver area.
