WORDS MATTER

I just read your column "What's the Matter with Sustainability?" in the June LAM. Your commentary reminded me that different individuals respond to different words. Our response to a term or phrase is conditioned by our educational and experiential background. As a consequence, a term or phrase may work well in our profession, but not necessarily for our neighbors, friends, or customers. For my parents and brothers, sustainable is a word that likely will not resonate.
