Taming a Red Bull

It took six long days for firefighters to contain the 1,836-acre Red Bull Fire in Spanish Fork Canyon in Utah. Between July 28 and August 3, 2004, damage to the soil included 162 acres of high severity, 968 acres of medium severity, 416 acres with low severity, while the other 287 acres escaped the fire, but were part of the perimeter dug by bulldozers to contain the fire. Further complicating the wildland fire was the need to quickly ensure soil stability while obtaining vegetation re-establishment.
