With the final Regulations aiming to be implemented by December 2008, the Environmental Liability Directive (ELD) signals a new approach to environmental responsibility for commercialrnlandowners. The aim of thernDirective is to preventrnenvironmental damage occurring, as well as forcing companies to compensate for any harm caused on their land. The Directive has been well documented in the past decade, but there is still confusion about how it will affect everyday practice.
