Study on the Connecting Structure of Trip Purposes by the Person Trip Data

Traffic demand in urban area comes from the activities in economy, society and living. Also sequential trips of individuals are related each other in some meaning, and its relation may be statistically represented by the connecting structure of trip purposes. A new approach for the prediction of traffic demand is studied in this paper, reflecting major differences of travel activities in individual attributes, and analyzing the sequential mechanism of trip purposes in traffic demand. Similarity and dissimilarity of traffic activities by personal attributes are analyzed in each step of trip demand. Then, in each group of individuals, the relationships among purposes of the generated trip and its preceding trip are investigated by using a cross table. The proposed method is practically applied to the person trip data in North Kyushu Area.
