The basic characteristics of a non-wave-overtopping type seawall have been investigated through wave tank experiment and numerical simulation. The cross section has a curved face which gradually diminish curvature along its face, having a footing at its base. The minimum crest height which satisfies non-wave-overtopping condition, wave pressure, wave reflection and water spray transported behind the seawall are studied in the experiments. The fluid velocity near the seawall under wave action is obtained by numerical simulation based on SOLA-VOF method. These hydraulic dimensions of non-wave-overtopping type seawall are compared with a conventional upright seawall and advantages of non-wave-overtopping type seawall controlling wave overtopping are discussed.
