HANDLE WITH CARE

The very idea of "hazardous waste" evokes images of full-body protective gear and hermetically sealed laboratory conditions. It doesn't usually spark any thoughts of steam irons or washing machines, much less a favourite toy. However, the RoHS Directive (aka Directive 2002/95/EC - The restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) targets these seemingly benign products - or rather some of the substances used in their production.
