New surface treatment technology with a plasma transferred arc welding process

Recently, the plasma transferred arc welding (PTA) process has been receiving attention as a new type of surface treatment technology. In this paper, an outline and characteristics of PTA are presented and described. Two examples of surface treatment with PTA are also Dexribed. One example is a cermet coating for Resistance to wear, and the other is a newly developed Ni-Cr base alloy coating for resistance to high- Temperature corrosion and oxidation.
