Spending by over 65s to rise sharply

Consumers aged 65-74 will increase their retail expenditure by more than three-quarters over the next ten years becoming the fastest growing age group, according to new research from Verdict Consulting, part of the Datamonitor Group. By 2017, it is estimated that the over 65s market will collectively be worth £64bn to UK retail, compared with £39bn in 2007.
