Wheels of the railway vehicle play the important role for driving train through wheel-rail interaction. Especially wheel profile is one of the most important design factor to rule the running stability and safety of train. Accordingly maintenance of wheel like wheel profile control is also very important for securing safety and stability of train operation. So we try to examine the performance of three different profiles including TGV profile through applying them to the wheels of passenger car trainsets running on the Seoul-Pusan conventional line which is the most crowded line in Korea. This study presents the wheel wear measurement results of passenger cars running on the conventional line. The train set included three different cars which have different shapes of wheel profiles including KNR profile currently used in passenger cars, Heumann profile, and the profile of TGV. The following results were obtained through the tests. KNR profile showed the more flange thickness and flange gradient wear than TGV profile and Heumann profile. Heuman profile showed small amount of wide spread tread wear and negative flange wear. At first stage of wear process, KNR profile had showed great amount of flange wear. But as wear process had proceeded, KNR profile and TGV profile had changed with nearly same profile pattern.
