Our current 24/7 culture is a “doing” culture that accepts, and even admires, a strong work ethic, including those described as “workaholics.” This article explores the extant literature describing this phenomenon and examines the costs of work addiction to the individual, to personal relationships and to employing organizations. Finally, the article recommends solutions for prevention and treatment.
