Rug Finishes

A rug weaver cannot escape the problem of fringes; every rug he makes has two of them. He should therefore have at his command a range of techniques so that he can always choose a fitting and efficient one. Fringes can be thought of as having two functions, to protect the weft from unravelling and to protect the exposed warp ends from fraying.
