My links with the Association began nearly thirty years ago when I joined York and District Guild as a very raw beginner -spinning somewhat amateurishly and sitting quietly at the back of Guild meetings in case anyone asked me a question that I couldn't answer. Gradually as my confidence grew I took a more active part in Guild affairs serving on the committee for many years and as chairman for three years in the nineties. When York Guild hosted the National Exhibition at St. William's College, York I acted as treasurer.
