Kent Guild's 70th Anniversary

The Kent Guild of Spinners, Dyers and Weavers was founded on 15 October 1949, being one of the original 10 Guilds that came together to found the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. Vic Edwards, one of the founder members, was a great influence in the weaving community at the time. I met Vic once, in the days when submissions for the AGWSD National Exhibition were first nominated at Guild level. Items that met the Guild criteria were then put forward for selection at the National level. Vic had very definite views on ensuring that standards were high and were maintained. He taught a number of our members to weave; it was an honour to have been taught by him.
