A small group from Tawe Guild substituted a visit to the exhibition in place of their regular Tuesday gathering. It was such a pleasure to have a national exhibition reach Swansea, giving us the opportunity to view tapestries by some of the country's leading exponents. It was a chance not to be missed. The main body of the work was displayed in the foyer of the College. Although quite a small area, the hanging was well done with a good amount of white space around each exhibit. Some of the exhibits may have benefitted from being viewed from a greater distance to be fully appreciated, such as Rhapsody by Louise Oppenheimer and Ros Bryant's Soundings. On the other hand, it was possible to get close enough to the exhibits to study the form and techniques used. One drawback of this often-used exhibition space is that it is located between the main doors and the library; we were frequently in the way of students and staff! Louise Martin's installation was displayed nearby in the Volcano Theatre, as it needed a large, uninterrupted space in which to be hung effectively.
