Highlights from the AGM of the AGW5D at Conway Hall, London on 6 April 2019

The Association Chair, Angela Colbridge, opened the meeting before inviting the outgoing President Jenny Balfour-Paul to speak. Jenny told us of a great yearning for skills, especially among textile undergraduates and recent graduates. The movement towards 'slow fashion' means that handmade textiles are valued again. But students and graduates miss out on the opportunity to learn how to spin, weave and dye because none of their tutors has the skills, unlike previous generations.
