Here, the discussions focus upon what temporary urbanism is, what is its role and what are the effects. At the outset of the book, Madanipour carefully explains the sections of the book and their interconnections. This introduction is very useful to the reader, as it clearly explains the journey they are going to take and the potential learning this can bring. This approach also really helps to encourage the reader to progress deeper into the text. Here Madanipour establishes that the work takes a more theoretical approach to the investigation of the phenomenon of temporary urbanism, which helps position the book. It also establishes that this will be much more about understanding the phenomenon of temporary urbanism than describing situations or temporary events.
