This new book is a useful addition to the "Transport and Mobility" series published by Ashgate. The series focuses on the relationship between transport activity and geographical research, which is increasingly important given the growing importance of sustainable mobility for the policy agenda in the 21st century. Freight transport has traditionally received far less attention than passenger movement in geographical research, so this book helps to redress that imbalance. The book is the culminationrnof several years of research by the author, whose background makes him well placed to analyse and summarise the key influences on the relationship between spatial development and freight transport activity.
