Aviation and Climate Change

This is an impressive book. In just 127 pages of text (with many figures and tables) it presents a very clearly structured and readable "synthesis of science and policy" to show how aviation fits into thinking on climate change. The structure of the book is outlined in an introductory chapter. The following chapters look at aviation, then at climate change, then how the aviation industry can cope with a range of aspirations to mitigate the effect of carbon emissions initially on its own and then in the context of other sectors. A unifying methodology is the scenario. The development of the scenarios is derived from substantial background work done at the Tyndal Centre for Climate Change Research, and is enriched by insight provided in interviews and discussion session with aviation industry representatives.
