TCM holds that the growth, development and aging of human beings are closely related with the state of the zang-fu organs and with the exuberance or depletion of qi and blood. Therefore, the depletion and exhaustion of essence, vitality, qi, blood, yin or yang may cause imbalance of yin and yang, and lead to aging. Acupuncture, simple in performance, has definite effects with a wide range of indications in combating aging. The following is a brief review on the mechanisms.
