The South African Cities Network (SACN) is a relatively young organisation which was established as a network of the major South African cities and partners to encourage the exchange of information, experience and best practice on urban development and city management. The SACN is an initiative arising out of the Office of the Minister for Provincial and Local Government, together with the nine major municipalities in the country, and partners with various public sector bodies, NGOs, private sector organizations and universities and research institutes.
