Welcome to the Special Issue on Advances in Nonlinear Observation and Identification for Dynamic Systems. Nonlinear observation and identification methods (sliding mode and variable structure techniques, polynomial stochastic filtering, H_2/H_∞ approach, design of nonlinear observers for uncertain systems, and others) have attracted a particular interest in recent years due to rapid development of potential application areas, such as network-based communication, adaptive control, signal processing, and fault detection. Newly developed nonlinear algorithms bring in advanced mathematical tools for theoretical design and non-traditional engineering vision for practical implementation.
