Environmentally responsive microgels have been subjects of great interest in past years due to their versatile applications.Such microgels are sometimes termed "intelligent" since their properties allow them to be tailor-made to react in a specific way to the environment.The most intensively studied thermosensitive polymer is poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM),which exhibits a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of 34 deg C.
