The development of effective strategies for selective hydrocarbon activation and functionalization continues to be one of the major synthetic challenges. Generally applicable methods do not exist, and each of the known methods has its limitations or disadvantages. Less conventional approaches are thus welcome. An interesting one consists of the use of two metalloradicals, as depicted in Scheme 1.
