Table 2 in the discussed paper lists the tensile strength properties of the steels used in the specimens. However, the relationships between ultimate and yield stresses are not plausible, and the values are presented without comment. The listed ultimate stresses are between 3.2 and 4.5 times the yield stresses. For the yield stresses noted, the expected ultimate would be in the range of 1.5 to 1.7 times yield. The yield stresses are comparable to ASTM A 36, Carbon Structural Steel, and the ratio of minimum ultimate to minimum yield stress is 1.61 for this material. The maximum ultimate stress is 550 MPa.rnThere is no description of the criteria used to define yield stress. Was yield defined by a yield plateau on the stress-strain curve, by some offset strain, or by some absolute strain? No specific standard is cited for the steel.
