This book details the author's work to unravel the legend of Robin Hood (a figure of some import to inhabitants of Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire - if not to others).There is one brief and intriguing reference to our noble trade. When dealing with 16th and 17th century ballads the author quotes from a merry song 'Robin Hood and the tanner'. The tune of the song is, it appears, common to a number of such ballads and is known as 'Arthur a'Bland'.
