Leather Solid Waste: A Review A Low Cost Adsorption Material Based on Collagen Fibre

摘要

Nowadays, collagen fibre attracts more and more domestic and foreign interest because of its unique structure and biological properties. Collagen fibre is the main component of leather solid waste and it has unique physical and chemical properties. It is a potential biomass adsorption material with a wide range of applications. As an adsorption material, the cost of collagen fibre is low, it also has excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. However, the studies have shown that the direct use of collagen fibre as an adsorbent material has disadvantages, such as low adsorption capacity, poor selectivity and inability to resist high temperatures. In order to meet the practical application conditions of adsorption, and broaden its application areas, many researchers have studied the modification of collagen fibre using metal ions, tannin, hyperbranched polymers, and aldehydes etc. The problems and the technological focus in the research of adsorbents based on collagen fibre are indicated.
