AKzo Nobel Twistar~TM: LCP-retarder films with improved temperature-matched compensation

摘要

Twistar~TM is Akzo Nobel's LCP retarder, which can provide full compensation of the bire- fringence effects of STN liquid-crystal displays by using only a single, thin, polymer layer. The bire- fringence of Twistar~TM decreases with increasing temperature giving this retarder the unique ability to provide full compensation of the display over a broad range of temperatures. The use of Twistar~TM can considerably increase the maximum temperature at which a film-compensated display can be used.
