Environment-Strategy-Performance Relations in Small Businesses in China: A Case of Township and Village Enterprises in Southern China

摘要

This study examines the environment- strategy-performance relations for Chinese small businesses with a focus on town- ship and village enterprise (TVEs). TVEs bave played an increasingly important role in shaping the Chines national economy and structural reform. We con- tend that environmental characteristics such as complexity, dynamism, and hos- tility influence TVE managers' percep- tions of environmental uncertainty and potentiality, which in turn affect aspects of the firm's which in turn affect aspects innovativeness, risk-taking, and proac- tiveness.
