摘要

On 21 June 1941, trains filled with wheat, oil, and coals were going from the Soviet Union to Nazi Germany. This was nothing new: as part of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact of August 1939, vital raw materials were supplied to the Third Reich, which in its turn delivered weapons, military technology, and civilian machinery to Soviet Russia. Therefore, it was common among Russians to say, as quoted by Artem Drabkin and Alexei Isaev in Barbarossa through Soviet Eyes. The First Twenty-Four Hours: 'We trade with Germany and send wheat, oil and coal for them.
