Isopiestic determination of the osmotic coefficient of saturated ternary solutions

A procedure for the determination of the osmotic coefficient of saturated ternary solutions, by a combination of isopiestic measurements and solubility data, is given. It is applicable to systems with two or more non-volatile solids. The solids can be nonelecterolytes or electrolytes with a common ion. The method also enables the simultaneous determination of osmotic and activity coefficients.
