International congress on plant protection towards the twenty first century A report

The fifteenth International Plant Protection Congress (IPPC) spanning in 6 working days, had been designed to cover areas that fall under the development of strategies and technology in Plant protection in twenty first century. The China Society of Plant Protection established with the assistance of the International association organized IPPC, which consists membership of more than 600 distinguished scientists from 80 countries, mostly in the developing world. Vice Premier of Republic of China and Minister for Agriculture inaugurated the function. He stressed on generating innovative and knowledge based agricultural production as also desired the integrated pest management (IPM) strategy in the 21st century and its importance in food security and in providing and maintaining clean environment. Other speakers were: J L Apple, Director General of Plant Protection Organization; H R Herren, President of International Association of Plant Protection; and Zjou Da - rong, Organizing president of China Society of Plant Protection.
