Quantitative Analysis of the Excess Capacity of the Chinese Iron and Steel Industry

This paper analyses the degree of excess capacity of the Chinese iron and steel industry from 2000 to 2016 through the composite index method. Our research shows that the Chinese iron and steel industry has been in a state of excess capacity in recent years, and this will worsen with the changing domestic and international economic environment. Thus, the contradiction of excess capacity must be resolved.
