An Evaluation of the General Deterrent Effect of Vehicle Impoundment on Suspended and Revoked Drivers in California

摘要

This study used interrupted time series analysis to evaluate whether imple- menting a law in California allowing peace officers to impound/forfeit vehicles operated by drivers with suspended/revoked driver licenses was associated with changes in the crash rates among such drivers. The effects of the im- poundment/forfeiture laws on crashes for suspended/revoked drivers were examined using crashes among validly licensed drivers as a control.
