The Imagination of the Preschool Child: The Experience of Logical-Psychological Analysis How to heat up a stove through the power of fantasy (on the imagination of children and adults)
Imagination is among the most important psychological accomplishments of the preschool years. L.S. Vygotsky [not cited in the original.-Ed.] regarded it as a central psychic neoformation of that period of development. As shown in studies by the Institute of the Development of Preschool Education, some of which were conducted by our research group, the consequences of the development of imagination among preschoolers are wide-ranging. They include not only major creative achievements in representational or music-performing activities but also a full-fledged readiness for school and even impressive results in psychological corrective and rehabilitative work with children, as well as many other benefits.
