Britain's Historic Railway Buildings: a gazetteer of structures and sites

Gordon Biddle has done more than anyone to educate us about British railway architecture, enabling us to appreciate the richness of our railway heritage and how it relates both to railway history and to public and domestic architecture generally. This is the second edition of the impressive and invaluable standard book of reference that was first published by Oxford University Press in 2003 and reviewed in this Journal in March 2004. As the first edition must surely be familiar to all those seriously interested in railway history, if not on their bookshelves, some comments on the changes that have been introduced in the new edition will suffice.
