In the fall of 1995, a radio program entitled Your Radio Playhouse aired its first installment on WBEZ, Chicago Public Radio. No one knew then that the producers of this program were developing a new genre of radio programming, a new and liberating way to exploit what radio does so well, and to expand the definition of radio and audio storytelling.
