摘要

In discourse, leadership and management are often pictured as opposed to one another. This article argues that such a conception misses a crucial third element for successful leadership as a whole, which is “entrepreneurship”. Based on the St. Gallen Management Model the relationship between the three roles “leader”, “manager”, and “entrepreneur” is illustrated. These roles should be balanced to allow for successful, holistic leadership. This article concludes with possible benefits for individuals as well as organisations and suggests that this balance would also benefit politics and political consulting, as leadership (sense-making) and entrepreneurship (future strategy and willingness to take risks) are too often missing in the overall picture.
