Provisions of Localism Act 2011 covering neighbourhood planning and housing tenure brought into force

On August 2,2012, the Localism Act 2011 (Commencement No.7 and Transitional, Saving and Transitory Provisions) Order 2012 (SI 2012/2029) was made bringing a number of provisions in the Localism Act 2011 into force on August 3, 2012. The Order brings into force the following provisions: 1.Sections 116 and 121 and Schs 10-12 dealing with neighbourhood planning (Article 3(a)) (except in relation to the duty to hold a business referendum and corresponding residential referendum under Sch.4B to the Town and County Planning Act 1990 as this duty will only apply once regulations covering this are made (Art.5)). Part 23 of Sch.25 dealing with housing tenure (Art.3(b)).
