Non-Statutory Guidance Published on Right to Bid for Assets of Community Value Under Localism Act 2011

On October 4, 2012, the Government published non-statutory guidance on the community right to bid under Pt 5 of the Localism Act. Part 5 of the Localism Act 2011 gives local communities the right to bid to buy assets of community value. Further detail on the right to bid was set out in the Assets of Community Value (England) Regulations 2012. The guidance: 1. Sets out the right to bid for assets of community value procedure, including the moratorium procedure. 2. Deals with enforcement and compensation that can be claimed by landowners affected by their land being listed as an asset of community value. 3. Covers exemptions from the right to bid. 4. Includes flowcharts on the key procedures.
