Application by Canterbury CC for the confirmation of the Canterbury City Council (Whitstable Bay Estate) Compulsory Purchase Order 2014

The Compulsory Purchase Order was made under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 s.17 and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981 by Canterbury CC on 17 February 2014. The purpose of the Order was to establish the Whitstable Bay Estate as a nature reserve. By the time that the inquiry was held there were nine remaining objections; one late objection was made at the inquiry. The inspector recommended that the order be confirmed and the Secretary of State was in agreement with this course of action.
