摘要

This collection reduces the growing noise in linking globalization and cities, a major focus of interest since discovery of the globalization of this era. It does this with three reoccurring thematic wraps: (1) connecting globalization to the UN-inspired proclamation that half of the world's population became urban in 2008, (2) pointing to different ways that "world cities" respond to globalization with the suggested hypothesis that these cities also mold globalization processes, and (3) indicating that cities have moved from government to governance and are now progressing to what is called "governing." However attractive these binders are for organizing unfolding complexities of cities in a global era, each has problems.
