Effective integrity management of pipelines through corrosion management and visualization tools

Whilst most of the tools required for corrosion management already exist, it is their actual implementation that seems to be a challenge. We argue that management of pipelines' integrity should involve synergistic incorporation of corrosion-risk assessments, corrosion-growth assessment, fitness-for-purpose studies, and overarching corrosion-control strategies. This approach can deliver a clear, realistic, and representative picture of pipeline operational integrity in a cost-effective way. In addition, we also emphasize the importance of visualization tools, which can assist operators with a dynamic visualization of their assets' integrity, corrosion risks, status of the key integrity-management activities, and assist with integrity decision-making.
