摘要

The Wharton gas-storage field in Potter and Cameron counties, Pennsylvania, uses the Oriskany sandstone as the storage reservoir. Originally discovered in 1933, the field was converted to gas storage in the early 1960's. The field currendy has approximately 85 storage wells within 8,000 acres. Maximum operating wellhead pressure is 3,600 psi. Base and maximum gas capacities are 14.6 and 16 Bcf, respectively. Seventy-five wells are used for injection/withdrawal, and the rest are used as observation wells. Well injectivity and deliverability tests are conducted routinely to ensure flow-rate optimization.
