Pensions at a Glance: Public Policies across OECD Countries. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

Over the last several years, Edward Wmtehouse and colleagues have developed an extraordinarily useful and careful compilation of pension information for a wide range of countries and presented them in a common format and following a thoughtful structure. Pension students everywhere will therefore be delighted to learn of the two recent volumes emerging from this enterprise, namely Pensions at a Glance and Pensions Panorama. These two books were generated under the direction of the Social Policy Division of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Whitehouse, the prime mover of this work, was formerly the Director of Axia Economics, a London-based consultancy firm known for its work on pension microeconomics, where the models underlying these volumes were developed. With his OECD colleagues, among them Monika Queisser, the authors have brought cross-national pension comparisons to a new level, and they are to be commended for their intensive efforts.
