摘要

Molecules which are labeled with two or more pyrenyl chromophores can exhibit both monomer and excimer fluorscence. The large spectral shift for pyrene excimer vs monomer emission and high fluorscence quantum yields make such molecules attractive as fluorescent probes and chemosensors. The ratio of excimer to monomer fluorescence intensity (I_E/I_M) is dependent upon molecular structure, temperature, and solvent polarity.
